Jacob Koczman, M.D.
Jacob Koczman, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in refractive cataract surgery. He is skilled in the latest multifocal and astigmatism lens options and laser-assisted cataract surgery.
Dr. Koczman studied at Northwestern College, where he excelled in the classroom and athletics. He graduated with honors as a double major in chemistry and biology.
Dr. Koczman is a two-time national champion in track and field and an academic All-American in Basketball. Since college, he has been inducted into Northwestern College’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Before medical school, he competed and made the finals for the 2004 USA Track and Field Olympic Trials in the 800-meter event.
He attended the University of Iowa for medical school, where he discovered his passion for ophthalmology. He completed his internship at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He continued his training in Indianapolis with the Indiana University Department of Ophthalmology, where he was chief resident. Dr. Koczman spent two years in North Carolina, practicing training as a refractive and cataract surgeon under the tutelage of Michael Woodcock, MD. His professional associations include the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Koczman maintains an active lifestyle and enjoys running, cycling, hiking, and many outdoor activities.
Richard L. Sherry, M.D.
Richard L. Sherry, M.D. began practicing after finishing a residency program at Temple University, where he received exemplary remarks in surgical training.
He then did a year-long anterior segment fellowship, learning phacoemulsification at a time when only 3% of the country was doing it. Dr. Sherry witnessed cataract surgery’s evolution while learning intracapsular, extracapsular, and phacoemulsification techniques.
Dr. Sherry started his private practice in Wilmington, Delaware, in 1986. Since then, he has been an integral part of the ophthalmology community. He served his community for many years as a board member of the Delaware Academy of Ophthalmology, Counselor and President to the Medical Society of Delaware, and Counselor to the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Members of the aforementioned boards have noted that Dr. Sherry is a well-respected doctor his patients love. In his spare time, Dr. Sherry enjoys traveling with his family and riding his motorcycle. He looks forward to this new chapter in Arizona.
Brandon Suedekum, M.D.
Brandon K. Suedekum, M.D. is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and brings an impressive array of educational and medical experience.
Dr. Suedekum completed his cornea fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. He earned his three-year residency in Ophthalmology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and completed a one-year internship in Internal Medicine at Fairview Hospital, an affiliate of the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri.
Dr. Suedekum has been involved in medical research and has completed an externship at the National Eye Institute of Health. He has given lectures and presentations at national and international ophthalmology meetings and has published multiple articles in United States ophthalmology journals. He has served as a manuscript reviewer for the journal Cornea and has chaired as a panelist for the Ophthalmology Education Series at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
The patient experience is as essential as his surgical product. Dr. Suedekum currently focuses on cataract surgery, offering the most advanced techniques and intraocular lens options. He performs over 2,000 procedures annually based on a customized surgical plan made during the initial consultation.
Dr. Suedekum is fluent in Spanish and has performed health-related services in Mexico. He travels extensively with his family and enjoys reading and hiking Arizona’s national parks. He is an accomplished jazz saxophonist who has performed and taught at several European jazz academies.

Erik Ornstein, O.D.
Erik Ornstein, O.D. was born in New York but moved to Las Vegas as a child. His undergraduate studies were done at UNLV, earning a B.S. in biology with a minor in chemistry. He then moved to Philadelphia, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He completed some training at Nellis Air Force base and with IHS in Bethel, Alaska.
Dr. Ornstein has over 20 years of experience ranging from routine vision exams to managing complex eye conditions. He especially likes managing pre-and post-operative patients, which makes him an excellent fit for working alongside Dr. Suedekum.
Dr. Ornstein is married and has three children. He delights in spending time with his family, hiking, playing the guitar, and enjoying great food and drink with his loved ones.
